MSP Packaging's roots trace back to Initial Packaging Solutions Ltd, the British specialist in high-security polythene packaging founded in 1983 at Initial House, Widnes. Our team spent years building products, standards and customer relationships there — and we're proud to carry that heritage forward.
A brief history of Initial Packaging Solutions
Initial Packaging Solutions Ltd was established in 1983 by Keith Moulton and Robert Croft. Since then it has grown into a highly specialised British manufacturer focused on high-security, niche polythene packaging.
The company operated from its main production site, Initial House, on Westgate within the Everite Road Industrial Estate in Widnes, Cheshire (WA8 8RA). From that Widnes base, Initial Packaging Solutions built a reputation for engineering flexible plastic packaging for high-risk logistics, medical and corporate transit sectors — not off-the-shelf commodity film, but bespoke technical products designed around each customer's requirement.

For over 40 years, Initial Packaging was a trailblazer of innovation and UK manufacturing.
Packaging Chimp (2016)
In 2016, the team at Initial Packaging Solutions launched Packaging Chimp — bringing that same manufacturing pedigree and product know-how to a wider e-commerce audience, with straightforward online ordering of the mailing bags, security bags and printed packaging that Initial had been perfecting for decades.
From Initial Packaging to MSP Packaging & Packaging Panda (2025)
In 2025, ex-Initial Packaging employees founded both MSP Packaging and Packaging Panda. The aim was simple: carry forward the craft, standards and customer focus that Initial Packaging Solutions has been known for since 1983, and keep serving the sectors we've spent our careers understanding.
MSP Packaging focuses on industrial and B2B customers who need tamper-evident security bags, wicket bags, mailing bags and bespoke printed polythene — the same disciplines that shaped Initial Packaging Solutions. Packaging Panda serves the wider e-commerce market with a curated range of dependable everyday packaging.
