The anti tamper seal suddenly matters far more than its unit price. Choose the wrong construction and it can lift in the warehouse, fail to show interference, or create an audit problem that appears only after the goods have changed hands.

For UK buyers, the right decision starts with the destination and product category. Medicines supplied in Northern Ireland, tobacco products supplied anywhere in the UK, nicotine products, and customs consignments don't all follow the same rules. What Anti Tamper Seals Actually Do

An anti tamper seal is a closure, label, bag or device that gives visible evidence when someone has opened, interfered with or resealed a pack. It doesn't make tampering impossible. Its job is to make unauthorised access difficult to conceal and simple to identify.

That distinction matters. A seal protects product integrity, but it also creates an inspection event. Match the seal to the pack

A carton usually points towards a void label, frangible label or security tape. A polybag needs a tamper-evident adhesive closure or an integrated security bag design. For mailers, returns create a particular problem. If the customer or courier can open and reseal the bag without leaving a visible event, your receiving team can't distinguish an ordinary return from an interfered parcel. Your line specification should state:

  • Surface preparation: Identify cleaning, drying and fibre-removal requirements.
  • Placement: Provide an artwork drawing with the exact seal position and orientation.
  • Pressure and dwell: Define the application pressure and minimum time before handling, based on supplier testing.
  • Trigger check: Show operators what an intact seal and a correctly breached seal look like.
  • Reject control: Require quarantine, recording and relabelling when a seal is damaged or misapplied.
  • First-off approval: Hold the first production units for inspection before releasing the run.

Automated lines may need a tamp-down station, controlled reel tension and an inline camera. Manual packing needs a flat application surface, a clear work instruction and sample units for training.
